Our family company celebrates an important milestone: our 90th anniversary!
Yes, you read that correctly: ninety years!
We are proud to fly the traditional Dutch flag above the Kaptein logo and on our products, and have been making cheese and butter products with Dutch pride for three generations. We’re known for Echte Butter, Echte Cheese Spread and our echte – really good – customer relationships.
Three generations of craftsmanship, a love for real flavour, and Dutch level-headedness.
Our story began ninety years ago in Beverwijk. In 1936, the first Kaptein generation started selling cheese and butter. In the following years, that trade expanded as we began processing, packaging and exporting our products ourselves. Mireille Kaptein, the third generation at the helm, developed the family business into the international home of cheese and butter that it is today.
Each generation has seized its own opportunities, passed on the craft, and renewed and refined it. We look back on ninety fantastic years, while keeping our eyes focussed on the future, because ninety years of Kaptein leaves us wanting more.
